Cloves

Cloves have antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anticandida, antiparasitic properties. But do you know what eating two cloves a day will do to your body?

  1. Cloves promote excellent oral health. Beside freshening the breath, and preventing plaque, they neutralize mouth bacteria responsible for gum disease. This is important because we want to start the digestion process in the mouth. To do so, we need to have good bacteria in the mouth. The problem with the anti-bacterial store bought mouth washes and tooth pastes is that they don't discriminate between good and bad bacteria. That's why, when we eat, we can't start the breakdown process in the mouth and that impact the whole digestive process.
  2. They feed the good bacteria in our guts.
  3. By improving the digestive juices in our guts, they promote good digestion. The role of the digestive juices is to break down the food we eat in our stomach. They thicken and help repair the mucus of the stomach and intestinal lining and that makes them very good to fight stomach ulcers, leaky guts,... And as a bonus, they are good at fighting nausea.
  4. Cloves are also a great source of antioxidants (the eugenol they contain is 5 times more effective than vitamin E). When we eat bad fats, toxins attack our cells and create inflammation. Eating a lot of antioxidants food is a great way to protect our cells against those toxins. Also, cloves are particularly rich in manganese that is incredibly good for our brain health.
  5. Clove oil promote liver health. It had been shown that clove oil reverse the signs of liver damage in conjunction with cirrhosis and inhibits hepatic cell proliferation. It also reduces the inflammation inside the liver.
  6. They are rich in magnesium flavonoids that help increase bone density.
  7. Consumed on an empty stomach, they help regulate blood sugar.
  8. Because they are antiviral, they can help in blood purification.
  9. Cloves work as an analgesic
  10. Their healing properties goes on and on...

In short and taken in the context of intermittent fasting, if we take 1 or 2 cloves during the fasting window, it will help with:

  • the oral microbiome
  • the gut microbiome
  • supporting our liver
  • balancing our blood sugar
  • getting antioxidants to support good cellular health
  • brain's health.
